SCOPE OF WORK
CWT Group who is one of the Asia Leaders in Logistics business, owns more than ten million sq. ft of logistic hubs globally and this new warehouse will allow CWT to strength its presence in Malaysia and expand its regional distribution hub offerings.
The CWT Warehouse Phase 1 is located within the Port Klang Free Trade Zone in Pulau Indah, Klang. The Phase 1 consisting of a warehouse (approx.. 100,000 sq ft) which would be London Metals Exchange (LME) approved; and a unit of office ( 2 levels). LTE has been engaged as the lead consultant providing architectural, civil and structural engineering services to this prestigious project.
The buildings are sitting on a reclaimed land and the soil investigation report shows very soft marine clay all the way down and no pile set shall be encountered despite of penetrating the pile till 60 m below existing ground level. As such, LTE has proposed friction r c sq. piles to support the single storey warehouse which imposed/live load is 5 tons per meter sq.
The Client needs a spacious and column free warehouse and the span of trusses prosed was 56 m long. Reinforced concrete cladding walls to the warehouse were proposed due to the security requirement by the Client.
The project was successfully completed within the time frame and no variation order was raisedthroughout the entire contract.
The warehouse started operating in the second quarter of 2012.
